Downloading PuTTY
PuTTY can be requested via the IT Helpdesk software catalogue.
PuTTY Configuration
The Host name or IP address will vary dependent on the application being accessed.
For example, to investigate gateway server issues, the host name / IP address to be entered is gateway.tms-uk-rail.co.uk
The different host names and associated passwords for the different servers can be found in the Master Credentials List.
PuTTY Commands
- You can click the up arrow repeatedly to see recent text commands. Pressing enter then re-enters this selected command.
- Ctrl + C stops a logging output e.g. quits Glances.
- Typing clear clears the command.
- Typing exit closes PuTTY.
PuTTY Tips
Maximise the dialogue box before pressing enter on any commands to ensure the output is displayed optimally and text does not wrap.
