Mobile Device Support

acumen has been configured to support mobile devices. This functionality has been deployed within the 20.09 upgrade. Please see the Upgrades page for more information.

Background

Various users of acumen require to access the application via a mobile device - to this end, acumen is designed to be responsive however, due to the limited resolutions available, some features of acumen are restricted or suppressed when viewed on mobile devices; the aim of this page is to inform users which features and functionality are available when viewing acumen on a mobile device and to detail any limitations or considerations.

Supported devices and resolutions

Specific devices have not been targeted - the responsiveness of acumen is engineered around screen size:

• Recommended: 1920px x 1080px (16:9) - i.e. Desktop computer;
• Mobile minimum width: 524px - acumen will not render on devices below this width resolution;
• Optimal mobile: 1024px x 768px - Landscape view, or 768px x 1024px portrait. (This is the resolution of an iPad).

Note: Other resolutions may function as desired however, these are not supported by the acumen development team.

Responsive Design

This section provides details where the responsive design differs from that when viewing acumen through the recommended Desktop resolution.

Nav Bar

The nav bar is the black horizontal bar across the top of the view; it contains the acumen logo and nav bar menu items, including the docker selection drop down list.

• The registration form is not available on any mobile device, regardless of resolution;
• The Administrator interface is not available on any mobile device, regardless of resolution;
• When the screen width < 992px, the nav bar menu collapses into a clickable button.

Home Page

• The PPM view is not available on any mobile device, regardless of resolution;
• The TSR view is not available on any mobile device, regardless of resolution.

Docker View

• When the screen width is < 1200px, the docker view tab list collapses into a clickable button;
• The notification pane on the bottom right hand edge of the screen is suppressed when the screen width < 1404px;
• The forecast search box is suppressed when the screen width < 557px;
• The train approaching notification (bottom left) is suppressed when the screen width < 557px;
• The Conflict List tab and Alert List tabs are suppressed if the screen width < 1024px;
• The Connection Editor tab requires a minimum resolution of 1024px x 768px, otherwise it is suppressed;
• The Restrictions tab requires a minimum resolution of 1024px x 768px, otherwise it is suppressed;

Train Details

• At a resolution of 1024px x 768px, the Train Details view replicates that available on the desktop (iPad portrait view);
• Where the screen width is 768px, the Associations and Train Running Restrictions tabs are suppressed;
• Where the screen width < 768px but > 524px, only the schedule view is rendered.

Association Editor

• The association editor is suppressed where the screen width < 1024px or where the height < 768px.

Advance Plan

• The Advance Plan view is not available on any mobile device, regardless of resolution.

Add Infrastructure Restriction

• The ability to add an infrastructure restriction on any mobile device is suppressed.

Context Menu

• The context menu is not available on mobile devices;
• When viewed on a mobile device, there is an additional tab within Train Details where a user can notify Train Crew Issue;
• The ability to Replan a service, Suppress a service or Amend Associations is therefore suppressed whilst accessing acumen with a mobile device.
