These user guide pages are updated regularly in line with system updates.

Since March 2022 we have been supporting the acumen suite on a best-efforts basis while the future of the tools is decided, however efforts are still made to ensure the information here is relevant and up-to-date.

This page provides an overview on what acumen is, how it was developed and how we continue to support users of the tools.

Accessing acumen

How to access the system.

acumen Home Page

Information on the tabs seen on the acumen home page. These are:
  • Real-Time Incidents;
  • Station Messages;
  • Public Performance Metrics (PPM);
  • Temporary Speed Restrictions;

Platform Docker Tabs

Descriptions of information provided and functionality available within the different tabs found on the main Platform Docker station view. These are:
  • Platform Docker, including how to set Docker Viewing Preferences;
  • TD map schematic;
  • Global Search;
  • Map (geographic);
  • Conflict List;
  • Connection Editor, including how to set connections between services;
  • Alerts List;
  • Restrictions, including how to edit an infrastructure restriction;
  • Advance Train Plan.

Platform Docker Display

Descriptions of different items and functionality available on the Platform Docker. This includes:
  • Platform layout, including TBC column;
  • Timeline;
  • Alerts bar;
  • Setting lifts or escalators as out of order;
  • Applying infrastructure restrictions;
  • Platform occupation;
  • Visual display of associations;
  • Planning Layer.

Train Details View

Information and functionality included within the pop-up Train Details View. These sections are:
  • Train Schedule;
  • Associations;
  • Conflicts applicable to that service;
  • Plan / Re-plan changes;
  • Train Running Restrictions;
  • Train Notes.

Conflict Detection

  • What causes a conflict and how they are displayed.

Context Menu - Replan Functionality

Replan functionality available from the right-click context menu. This is:
  • Replan service, including platform change and amend timings;
  • Notify Train Crew issue;
  • Suppress a service;
  • Amend association (Association Editor).

User Cases

How acumen functionality can support real-life user cases. The user cases discussed are:
  • Understanding platform occupation (planned services, Q/Y paths, called services);
  • Off-booked route trains;
  • Horizontal and vertical views.

Data Feeds

Information on the data feeds received and processed by acumen and how these support the system.

Mobile Device Support

Understanding what functionality is available on different mobile devices.
